R.I.P. Mr Tony Yeates

All at Greenhills AFC/Greenhills Greenpark FC are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Tony Yeates. Tony was a valued member of our club for over 40 years. Tony managed many teams over the years but we can say Tony coached every child that played for the club at some point.

The Yeates family have a long tradition with the clubs as his son’s, daughters and grandsons all played for the club through the years.

It was always said that Tony had a “Season ticket” for Greenhills Park as he would appear in the park (in his club gear) and stop to watch teams training or playing matches. No matter what age group was playing Tony showed a great interest. If you bumped into Tony he would ask how each team was doing as he was always aware of what teams the club had at that time. He always had advice for players and coaches which were always taken on board.

Tony was also the Club Photographer especially for our End of Season awards and our Summer Leagues.

As a committee member Tony never got involved in the politics of running a club and his voice was always heard around the cutting of the grass on the pitches to proved the best playing surfaces for the boys and girls in the club.

Away from the football side of things, Tony was a true gentleman and always stopped for a chat.

Our condolences go out to all the Yeates family at this sad time. As a mark of respect to Tony and his family the club will be having a minute silence before all games this coming weekend.

May Tony Rest in Peace
