From Academy to Seniors

From Academy to Seniors :

After the integration of our U17s to the senior setup there are 3 players who have gone from our Academy back in 2006 into the Senior setup in 2017. The 3 players are Lee Kennedy, Joey Maher and Jordan Finn. These 3 lads have been a major part in the success of this team. During their schoolboy playing days they collected 2 SDFL Premier titles (U8 & U15s) , 2 League Cups (both at U8s as they played 3 yrs at U8s). They also came runners Up at U9s,U13s & U14s.

One of the most memorable days for the team came when they played in the SDFL Joels Cup Final in 2015 which was played @ Tallaght Stadium (although the result went against them that day it was a great experience).

Lee and Joey will play a big part in the Saturday side this year while Jordan will be involved with the Senior 1st team for the coming season which kicks off this Sunday @ home to Confey FC (KO 11am).

Most of the U17s that have been integrated have been with the club since an early age and progressed through the club also. Sean Duggan joined half way through the first season. Diamand Hoxha ,Dylan Carruth & Aaron Kerrigan joined in the 2nd season .Carl Carruth and Aaron Howe joined at U9s and they have all stayed with club from then.

They travelled to Wales in both 2016 & 2017 to represent the club in the Wales Challenge Cup. In 2016 the squad brought back the Fair Play Trophy but in 2017 they went one better by bringing back the Winners trophy by beating local rivals Clondalkin Celtic in the Final 3-0.

It is great for the club in its 50th year to be in a position to bring an entire team from schoolboys into senior football and a lot of credit goes to Robbie Kennedy who coached the lads all the way from U8s to now. This process will hopefully continue in the coming years and we can bring on more and more players through from the schoolboy ranks.

Best of luck lads in your 1st season as senior players.

RIP Jimmy Fogarty
